:: HOW I GOT HERE - page 1:: |

Born in Surinam, raised in the Netherlands I always knew I wanted to
become a pilot. I had no particular inspiration since nobody in my relative family has anything to do with aviation, but just like my
grandfather I wanted to see the world. I left Holland my third year of High School and moved in with people, who now I may proudly call
my in-laws. Finished High School in Atlanta, GA in 2001.
Moved back to the Netherlands to start things going for my aviation career and worked for
IKEA untill the end of 2001. January 2002 I started flight training at Naples Air Center ( Naples, FL ) a part 141 FAA and JAA
flight training organisation. Personally had a decent experience there with some great instructors. I finished in August 2002 with my
FAA CPL ASEL/AMEL IR ( Commercial pilot's license aircraft multi & single engine land + instrument rating )
I had an internship starting in September 2002 till March 2003 with Ameriflight Inc. PART 135 as a BE-99 F/O.
( a small turbo prop multi engine plane flying cargo in the California region ).
Yet again moved back to the Netherlands and started my JAA ATPL theory at CAE Amsterdam, which took me
about 9 months to complete. It consists of 14 subject that will allow you, after succesfull completion, to convert your FAA license to a JAA frozen ATPL.
After receiving my ATPL theory certificate I moved to Bournemouth, England for a few months to start the
practical training in order to receive my JAA frozen ATPL. I started my conversion training with EPTA, Bournemeouth. A member of the CABAIR group.
I can only say good things about the school. Proffesional and very knowledgeable team of people with loads of experience. I hope this will remain a fact in the future ! The CABAIR group has now
combined some of their schools and I do not know if the quality remained the same.
